It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our friend and co-worker, Collene Sallee. She left us peacefully this morning after a brief illness.
Collene retired as the marina manager at Twin Coves Marina on Lake Grapevine almost two years ago. Many of you had the opportunity to interact closely with Collene during her almost twenty years on the lake. She was the face of Twin Coves Marina and brought her energy, her talents and her passion with her every day. She was deeply devoted to her members and knew them all by name, including their children, grandchildren and pets. She was one of those remarkable people who filled the space she was in with light and humor.
Our hearts and prayers are with Collene, her family and vast circle of friends.
We will all miss her deeply.

Anyone who was lucky enough to know Collene knew that when she was around there was never a dull moment. She had a remarkable ability to light up the room she was in and put a smile on everyone’s face…she truly lived life to the fullest. She will be missed by everyone.
Collene was an amzing woman. She was full of life and her laugh and spirit were infectious. You could never spend a minute with Collene and not feel your spirits lift. She was a warm and supportive friend. Who else but Collene could get me to do a duet of "I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No" in the middle of the Gaylord! From one Addo Annie to another, I love you and will miss you dearly and very grateful that I got to speak you in this past week.
If Collene had written her life story it would have been a best seller. Her story has glamour and warmth that meet each other on high peaks of interest. I will miss her greatly.

I remember when I was with Collene and a large group of people in Las Vegas. When she walked in to the Golden Nugget, a smile grew on her face and there was a twinkle in her eye. She immediately felt right at home. She later told us about all her stories of her younger years when she spent time on Fremont Street. She was glued to the Blackjack table for the rest of the night. That Collene, she was a hoot. Everyone around her always had a good time. She practically raised many of the members at Twin Coves Marina.

To honor Collene this should really be sung, or at least recited in costume; but it is said with love just the same. I was lucky to have met Collene. She was greatly responsible for the footprint of Twin Coves, as well as the boating atmosphere on Lake Grapevine. She treated every person she met as though they were a long lost friend. Flowers and celebrations and decorations were her trademark. Collene was a pixie with a plan, usually her own that was not necessarily by the book, but always for the greater good and definitely for the greater fun. When she first came to the marina, it was no shining star. I remember thinking that a lady with her sophistication and history wasn't going to last long. Was I wrong! She loved the water, the boaters, her family that she created around the sunsets and holidays. Who could forget Christmas at Collene's? Two of her aggressive projects were the member's decks where folks could sit around and share, and the flag pole presentations. It was sobering to drive in last Friday to see all the flags in the marina at half mast, but it was a fitting tribute for a hero. It was my good fortune to be able to work with Collene, and more importantly call her my friend. Sandy Funk

I am truely sorry to hear about the death of Collene Sallee. I met her one time back in the 80s. I wish I would have had the chance to know her more. She is my Aunt. Please, anyone, tell me more. I would like to meet her family. My name is Ginger Fitzgerald Turner. Her father, was my Grandpa.
Thank you.
COLLENE WAS ALWAYS SO FULL OF LIFE AND LAUGHTER. I WILL MISS HER. SAL GARCIA.
Collene will live on in the memories of the Rushing family. Every single visit to the marina included a brief, yet meaningful exchange of words with Collene, which we all internalized as love. We loved her laugh and the way she would throw her arms open and sing, "It's the boys-give me a hug." Her smile and the twinkle in her eyes just added to her welcome. I consider her to be one of the most lovely ladies I have ever met. My children agree and we will remember her with love. Everywhere we look at Twin Coves reminds us of Collene and how nice it was to have known her.
I worked at Twin Coves as Maintainance man with Colleen as the manager, she was always a hoot to work with, Spring was her favorite time, that's when she got to go on her flower planting jobs, always smiling sorry to hear of her passing.
